Sofa.... so far so good....

My leather sofa at home for the past 2 years is already ruined. It is not really the quality of the leather or the retailer who sold us our Zen-looking huge 3-seater and 2 seater.

Maybe it was due to too much exposure of the morning sun (even though the curtains were drawn). I think the most likely culprit would be due to maintenance. My parents have been wiping and spraying my dear leather with all sorts of detergent, EVEN THOUGH I have bought leather-cleaning liquid and leather-polishing spray and warned them not to use other liquids. They refused to listen to me and refused to admit the holes and tears of the leather were the result of those dreadful sprays. They claimed that it was not real leather.....  -__-"

At first, we used sofa throws to cover the peeling leather sofa.  It didn't worked because it would breed cockroach eggs underneath.  Mom, being the perfectionist she is, decided to buy a new sofa. So we went shopping.  Got distracted by the other furniture except sofas..... beds, mattresses, the interior designs etc....

Besides Ikea, I think only Picket & Rail still has display of country designs, which are not so common nowadays, compared to those contemporary modern designs.  Although I do not really fancy a country theme (too heavy and stifling to me), but the white wooden furniture still look cosy and intimate. Some people prefer a mock fireplace like this to match a country theme decor. For me, I prefer more simple clear cut Zen-looking dark wood for my furniture. Two years ago, I actually bought my dark wood bedroom set from Picket & Rail. Too bad Barang Barang has already gone bust, bankrupt and closed shop, otherwise I like their Zen designs too.

More bedroom design ideas.... and there were so many other stuff to distract us....  cutlery, cushions, dining tables.....

There were even soft toys and piggy banks, planter stands, nooks and wares.....

Back to proper business... I like the lengthy Bayside sofa which looked similar to my current one, with simple outlines. I also liked the leather lounge chair. I had been eyeing lounge chairs to laze around, for watching TV or a good read, but no more space in the living room to accommodate. Mom liked the Americana Solid Wood sofa because it was high quality leather and heavy teak wood, but the price was also pretty  atas (Malay for high class).  We definitely did not want a fabric sofa, didn't want to change covers and wash which would be too troublesome.

In the end we decided on the Delaware L-Shaped Leather Sofa set, slightly shorter than my existing sofa but seemed comfy enough. We could customise and choose the colour of the leather. I chose my usual dark brown leather, of course. I'm not the type to buy a red sofa, you know.  They are delivering the new sofa soon. I hope no more holes and tears and it should last us for at least the next 5 years.
