Saw this house number of the main gate of a private house. It is number 14, but interestingly there is a picture of a pineapple placed after the number.
I cannot help but think that it is for some auspicious reason that the pineapple is used. Traditionally, the Chinese do not like the number "14" because in cantonese, 14 sounds like "sure to die". The sound of the Chinese word for pineapple is close to the sound of “good luck coming your way”, so the pineapple has become a popular traditional feng shui symbol of wealth, fortune and prosperity.
