Roti

After dinner with the family tonight we passed by an old shophouse in Whampoa Drive. This shop sells the traditional Chinese bread. My mom quickly bought a loaf of this nice brown crusted bread. We ate this when we were young, when the bread was mostly handmade. The top of the bread crust is normally burnt but it doesn't matter because the top would be sliced off before they are sold off the shelves. This bread tasted mildly sweet and very fluffy and very soft. It is very different compared to the Gardenias and Sunshine breads of these modern times. Old shops selling these bread are a rare sight nowadays. I hope they will stick around for a long time to come.
