Don't throw it all away

The Gibb brothers; from left, Barry, Robin, Maurice, Andy
Former Bee Gees, Robin Gibb passed away yesterday 20 May 2012, after battling cancer for a long time. He was 62. Robin follows his brothers Maurice and Andy in death, leaving eldest brother Barry as the sole survivor among the legendary Gibb Brothers.

Although the Bee Gees were before my era, I always associate them with my youngest uncle. He was their fan, I think. When I was a little kid, while staying in my grandma's house during the school vacation, I saw his room decorated with big posters of Andy Gibb. My uncle used to keep long hair (and even permed his hair curly!) and dressed exactly like Andy Gibb. Hehe...

The only Bee Gees album I ever bought was from their concert "One Night Only" in Las Vegas, 1997. I don't know why but I just love the "live" atmosphere and acoustics of that particular concert. Here's a clip of a song I like, "Don't throw it all away" during this concert. I love many of their greatest hits too. Andy Gibb, their youngest brother who passed away in 1980 at 30, made a 'special appearance' too.

May Robin Gibb have a good rebirth.

Maybe I don't wanna know the reason why
But lately you don't talk to me
Darling, I can't see me in your eyes
I hold you near but you're so far away
And it's losing you I can't believe
To watch you leave and let this feeling die
You alone are the living thing that keeps me alive
And tomorrow if I'm here without your love
You know I can't survive
Only my love can raise you high above it all

Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love

We can take the darkness and make if full of light
But let your love flow back to me
How can you leave and let this feeling die
This happy room will be a lonely place when you are gone
And i won't even have your shoulders for the crying on
No other women's love could be as true, I'm begging you

Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love

We changed the world we made it ours to hold
But dreams are made for those who really try
This losing you is real
But I still feel you here inside

Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love

  1. What a moving performance. Absolutely loved this post.

I discovered the BeeGees more in the 80's while they were still going strong, but the 70's music was definitely playing on the radio when I was a toddler.

What an amazingly talented family. They seem very sweet too.
