The best Hakka Abacus Beads 客家炒算盤子

I discovered this stall in Syed Alwi Road which sells the nicest Hakka Abacus Beads (客家炒算盤子).  I don't usually order or eat this outside as it is not easy to find delicious  算盤子 these days. However, the 算盤子 here is so moist and soft and chewy at the same time. The taro balls are so fragrant with strips of mushroom and minced meat and other ingredients. I totally love it! Although this is just a side dish from this stall, I would go there just to eat this 算盤子!

While you are there, you might wish to try their Beef Balls noodles. Actually the stall sells Beef Ball Noodles in a different style and their specialty is the beef balls which they make themselves in-house.  I did not try the beef balls but my colleagues said there were like ping pong balls, very bouncy, and their noodles QQ chewy too.

There is also Hakka Yong Tau Foo which comes in clear soup, good for the hot weather. It goes well with their dry noodles, generously topped with minced pork.
Another side order you can try is the Soon Kueh with full of turnips and dried shrimps and the skin is soft and not too thick. Since their 算盤子 is good, this Soon Kueh is not bad either.

Here is their shop front. Gar Lok Eating House is just below the office of the Workers Party.  Do go early as their food is usually sold out DURING lunch time, especially the Yong Tau Foo and the Hakka Abacus Beads.
