Went to meet an old client today and later lunched at Menya Shinchan Japanese Ramen at Robertson Quay. Yes this place sells everything ramen. There was not any foodcourt nearby and I did not feel like having any of the food from the other shops. Ramen was the easiest choice, and they did not have any other choice either, besides ramen. However, there were many variety of ramen, from the pork flavoured soup types to the seafood flavoured soup types, 1001 ramen to choose from.....
First thing that caught my eyes was "Pumpkin Ramen". I have never tried this before so I ordered it. It took slightly longer time to cook compared to the other types of ramen, according to the pretty soft spoken chinese waitress who could pass off as a Japanese girl. The huge bowl of Pumpkin Ramen came with a creamy thick yellowish broth, with 2 slices of char siew pork, half an egg and a big chunk of beansprouts. Yucks!
I did not know that they used beansprouts (towgay) in all their ramen! Don't get me wrong, the ramen and everything was fantastic except that I did not like towgay in any types of soup! I wished they had told me earlier at the point of ordering. To me, the taste of towgay always spoil the taste of any soup. Anyway, I made do with it. The char siew pork was nice and tender with a tinge of smokey taste (I like!) and the egg was slightly salted which was not bad. I love the pumpkin soup. I did not finish the noodles and towgay! I even ordered a small side dish of Menma (which was Bamboo Shoots), it tasted quite crunchy and nice. This ramen joint was quite small with 3 tables inside the restaurant and a row of seats at the counter. The rest of other tables were all outside in the open (so hot!).
Luckily I got a seat inside with aircon. And immediately, many clients started strolling in. My gosh, I think 90% of them were guys and 90% of the guys were all Japanese. These 3 Jap guys sat down at the counter and their ramen came quite fast, and they finished their ramen in equally fast time, about 5 minutes and they were off! Were they catching a plane or what?? Is it true that Japanese people just cannot relax even while eating?
Anyway, I did not finished my noodles as I was busily distracted by another handsome Jap dude just next to my table. So handsome, and I managed to sneakily innocently take a snap of him! He happened to be smiling, but with eyes half closed. I was busy stealing glances at him wiping out his big bowl of ramen. Veli drooling *slurps* handsome, right? What a nice place for men... I mean, ramen!
After lunch I passed by the river before proceeding to my next appointment under the hot sun!
Hahaha sneaking a photo of a hot jap guy!! That really made me laugh.
