Breakfast on my lil' kitchen top

Some mornings, I have my breakfast at my little kitchen top in the kitchen by the window, and not at my big dining table outside. It is breezy and cool sitting by the window, enjoying breakfast and reading news on the phone. 

Here are my usually-DIY breakfast on my lil' kitchen top, which only fits one person. 

Toasted raisin bread & coffee

Half boiled eggs, toast bread with peanut butter & tea

Sunny-side up eggs, beans and toast plain bread

Some days, it's just coffee (Mommouth coffee from Taiwan)

Sausages with olives 

Full-fledged sandwich on fanciful days

Scrambled eggs and plain toast 

Toasted tuna bread & coffee

DIY Big Brunch - fish, potato, mushrooms, tomatoes

Chinese boiled soup for late night dinner 

Other days, I'm just a potato couch in the living room!

The sprawling rambling IKEA

IKEA is probably very close to our daily lives, not just with its reasonably-priced ready-to-assemble furniture, but also the food and shopping experience in its huge store in Tampines, Singapore. When I was there in the Swedish store a couple of months ago, I snapped most of the setups just to have some decorating ideas of the latest furniture designs available.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ok, now the food. On and off, many of us have cravings for Ikea food. We had rushed down for its famed meatballs, done-to-perfection fried chicken wings, its Daim cake , cheese cake etc..  Here are a few blurred-out shots using an app from Iphone. As I do not take beef, so no meatball photo here...

CNY reunion steamboat dinner & lo hei

It is the CNY Eve today, and most families will be having their reunion dinner tonight. In my family, we usually have our reunion dinner on the eve of the CNY Eve, as all of us are busy on the eve itself.

We invited my Grandma and 2 dearest aunts to join us this year at our home. We started with Lo Hei. BIL got ready the Yu Sheng with auspicious chinese idioms when he laid each Lo Hei ingredient.

Time to lo hei! The takeaway tub which we packed from the restaurant looked small but it was actually quite a lot in portion. Look at the mess we made!

I must highlight my mom's Ngo Hiang which she made every year. This year I did not have time to help her as I was too busy (guilty). It was so yummy with our homemade spicy chilli.

Here was just part of the entire items for steamboat! There were almost 20 types of different items!

We made delicious soup stock beforehand, boiled from pork ribs, scallops, intestines and abalone soup. And during the steamboat, we load prawns, pork, liver, fish balls, chicken balls, prawn sticks, lobster balls, sotong, fish slices, sausages, veggies, and even an egg and noodles into the soup.

Another family shot. My grandma was telling us during dinner that she bumped into someone from her old neighbourhood almost 20 years ago, but she just could not remember the lady. I am a little sad, as grandma is losing part of her memory gradually.

After dinner, the whole family went to the supermarket to stock up some more stuff.  Here we were fooling around with the surveillance mirror. Haha!!

New sofa

I bid goodbye to my old leather sofa set of 2-seater and 3-seater a couple of weeks ago.

I do miss my old big sofa where I can laze and chill every night at that corner.

This is the new leather sofa set which looked identical in colour except that it is L-shape this time. It is still big, as big as a king-sized bed in width and length. Remember, if you want a leather sofa, make sure you install aircon, otherwise it is going to be pretty hot sitting on it. We chose leather because we do not want to change and wash any sofa covers. We only hope the leather would last for at least 5 years.
