A million lights

On the eve of Vesak Day, celebrating the Birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, his Enlightenment and His attainment of Nirvana, I went to see the light offering ceremony organised by ABC. A million lights were lighted up officially by Mrs Goh Chok Tong and all the representatives of all religions in Singapore. This is to signify global harmony and peace. The Buddha taught that making light offerings is one of the conditions for developing wisdom and one will be reborn in the human or god realm, and causes the condition for one to quickly achieve enlightenment.

Look at the million lights all around the special stupa and the actual full moon next to it.
