‘世上只有穷人,没有丑人'

Plastic surgeon, Alex Tan, in Perfect Cut 2, swears by "世上只有穷人,没有丑人". And 只有懒人! “There is no ugly person in this world, only poor and lazy people". Besides having constructive surgery to beautify ourselves, indeed sometimes paying a little attention to our makeup or dress can make a world of difference.

I saw this picture from
another blog. It is a contest among 9 ordinary women for a makeover. Within 12 hours they were transformed from plain janes to woolala attractive women. Their "before" and "after" photos were worlds apart. BTW, the second lady from left won the contest.

Of course there were detractors who said the way the ladies were transformed were not exactly natural, that they were wearing wigs, or had artificial stuff on their faces and bodies. Some even said the ladies were made up as modern-day "Frankenstein Barbies". In local context, perhaps some Singaporeans would call them "ah gua" lookalikes?

Nonetheless, a little external help is always welcome, and can prove to be a great boost in how good we can feel. Just don't overdo it. Goes to show besides finding our unique X-factor within us, we can complement our inner beauty with some external touch up and grooming as well. Sometimes, when we look good and feel good on the outside, it makes us a little bit more confident on the inside, and hence a little happier? Kinda makes you wanna call Dr Alex Tan .... er... Dr Georgia Lee or Jean Yip right away, right?

And how extensively "beautiful" you want to be, depends on how much lottery you strike, right?
