"Thank you so much"

I have just started a new job in sales.  Sales is nothing new to me, as I have been in sales all of my career. Being able to talk well and handling troublesome clients are not an issue. However, this is not exactly a job that many people are keen about, especially in the industry I am in. Getting started can be tough, and the beginnings were not exactly a bed of roses. You see, I am not a super duper salesperson, if the measurement of a good salesperson is aggressiveness and being pushy. Plus the product in question is something quite taboo for many Chinese.  Thus approaching clients can be as tough as trying to close them.

Even though as Buddhists, we learn that life is impermanent, nothing lasts forever, yet we as suffering deluded beings, still hang on dearly to this precious life of ours like death will never come.  And for someone to broach the subject about death, it can be tricky if one is not sensitive enough.  To be frank, I have been hesitant about the nature of this job from the start, and have met plenty of rejection and awkwardness from clients... cold, aloof, dodgy, pretentious etc... However, at the end of the day, what kept me going is the motivation that I keep reminding myself of... to benefit others in making the decision of the final journey of their lives and the lives of their loved ones. I keep reminding myself that in helping clients, I made a friend even if I do not make a sale. I did managed to meet many supportive people and benefactors.

Today, my team and I were prospecting a few clients. I found out soon enough that one client, E, is from the same buddhist centre I am from, even though I do not know her personally. Coming from the same buddhist centre, with the same guru, the same teachings, the same religion and practice, it was much easier to relate to each other.  Quite quickly, at a certain point, E made her choice and decided on the purchase. Afterwards, when E saw the huge Buddha in the premise, she began to cry uncontrollably. She could not contained her emotions. I understood how she felt.  She felt so relieved at having finally found what she was looking for and at having made a choice, for the benefit of her father and family.  They were tears of joy and relief, at having done something right. There was no need to push the sale. When I saw her off at the drop off point, she again apologised for her breakdown earlier on. I reassured her it was ok and that I was grateful to her too. Then she held my hand tightly and kept thanking me profusely. She told me she was glad she met me today (that reaffirmed her decision and my sale).  I was not only happy because I made a sale. I was even happier because my team and I had helped her with something which was bothering her for a long time.  I am glad to have been able to help a Dharma sister. This is what brings satisfaction to a job.

Coincidentally, the night before, I had a dream. I was sleeping in my bedroom. I usually hang a towel on a hanger outside my window. When the wind blows, sometimes it knocks against the window with a "tock, tock, tock". In the dream last night, I was sleeping and I heard my hanger banging furiously against my window. There were strong gusts of wind and threatened to blow my towel away. I woke up and wanted to bring in my towel. I saw from my window, outside, there were very beautiful and blue skies in front of me. It was extremely blue and an awesome sight. End of dream.

Earlier in the evening, when I attended a puja, I wrote in the dedication card to dedicate the merits to E and her family. Tonight at 11.50pm, I received a sms from E. She wrote, "I was the girl who cried this afternoon in front of Buddha. I want to thank you and your team for helping me today.  I will see you again next week. Thank you so much. Buddha is blessing us all. Rejoice!"

This made my day.  And my first sale.

A golden dragon flies in line with MBS' "huge ship"

Yesterday, I posted an amazing photo of an unusual sighting of the bright sun surrounded by a full round rainbow and manifesting a dragon from the sun, right after the completion of the grand Naga Puja, conducted by the Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche.

This auspicious sign was reported in today's chinese papers, Zaobao, as well.  I quote an excerpt from Gaden Shartse Dro-Phen Ling's Facebook Page:

Headline reads: "Golden dragon flies in line with huge ship (MBS)". This auspicious phenomena was seen by many and is hence reported by Zaobao, although the article did not mention anything about Dro-Phen Ling's Grand Puja. We shared an auspicious dragon with full rainbow photo on Facebook  yesterday. It manifested in the sky after the Naga Peace Grand Puja at MBS was successfully completed at 1:30pm, conducted personally by 92 year old Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche and 22 monks from Gaden Shartse Monastery.

When we shared this newspaper report in excitement with Kangyur Rinpoche, Rinpoche just gave a little smile and replied humbly, "Actually all these signs are not new to me."

We can only say, Rinpoche is truly amazing. A Living Buddha. Thank you so much, so much Rinpoche, for all your great blessings for all the patients and devotees of Singapore. _/|\_

Kangyur Rinpoche arriving in MBS hall on the second day of the Grand Healing Puja to conduct the Six-Elements Cleansing Healing Puja, which only Rinpoche is qualified to perform. An overwhelming crowd of 2000+ turned up!

What a blessed day subduing spirits and demons (White Umbrella Goddess Puja) and cleansing our vile defilements and imbalance of our body and healing of diseases (Six Elements Cleansing Healing Puja), as well as a precious night receiving the Yellow Dzambhala initiation from Rinpoche. He wanted to bestow and changed to the Yellow Dzambhala initiation instead of Namtose Wealth initiation. Om Dzambhala Dzalen Draye Soha!
In the meantime, all are looking forward to the finale of the Grand Healing Puja tomorrow, the grand offering of 10,000 offerings to the Medicine Buddha.  The monks are also busy constructing the sand mandala of Medicine Buddha for the past few days.
The sacred sand mandala of the Medicine Buddha is almost complete before the Initiation of the Medicine Buddha tomorrow.

The Healing Lama, Kangyur Rinpoche IS the Medicine Buddha. We look forward to the final day of the Grand Puja tomorrow!!!
- 10:30am: Namtose Wealth Congregating Puja
- 3:00pm: Medicine Buddha Blessing Initiation
- 7:30pm: Medicine Buddha Ten Thousand Offerings Grand Puja

WHAT HELP IS THE MONASTERY IN NEED OF?
At the same time, in November at the end of this year,His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is making a visit to Gaden Monastery & Drepung Monastery, to conduct a very rare and important dharma discourse on the eighteen classic Jangchup Lamrim commentaries. It is estimated that there will be 12,000 to 15,000 Sangha members who will gather together to attend these precious teachings.

Being one of the host-monasteries, Gaden Shartse Monastery faces the huge expense burden to provide meals and printing of texts for all 12,000 to 15,000 sangha members during the teaching period. At the same time, Gaden Shartse Monastery is organising an important Lamrim Chenmo Seminar - Stages in the complete path to Enlightenment. This seminar invites 5,000 sangha members, which includes the most illustrious figures from the 3 great monasteries – His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, as well as all Abbots, Ex-Abbots, Rinpoches, Geshe Lharampas, and distinguished scholars. Hence, Gaden Shartse Monastery needs to be responsible for all their meals, printing of texts, transport, accommodation, stationary as well as basic necessities. Total cost for the seminar is expected to reach USD$67,000.

WHY SHOULD WE HELP THEM?
From Buddha’s time until now, the Sangha are completely dependent on lay practitioners to provide for their basic needs, thereby allowing us opportunities to practise the paramita of generosity. It is said that: the merit from supporting one who walks the Noble path is inconceivable, especially one who renounces the world to dedicate himself on the spiritual path.

Supporting the Sangha enables them to devote their time fully to practice and study of the Dharma, and also ensures that the precious teaching of Buddha will be preserved, ultimately bringing infinite benefits to all sentient beings. This is a gift of Dharma, and there is no greater gift than this.

THE BENEFITS OF YOUR SPONSORSHIP
- One’s karma will be purified. Heavy karma will lighten, and light karma will be purified.
- One gains great merit to prevent and overcome obstacles from arising.
One will be blessed by the Three Jewels and receive protection from the Dharma Protectors.
- One will be full of auspicious energy to accomplish many activities and works.
- One who is dull-minded gains wisdom. One who is ill gains health. One who is poor gains wealth.
- One gains good looks and shall be adorned with talents in future rebirths.
- One helps others grow in wisdom, and gains great merit in doing so.
- One’s great merit will continue to grow in many lifetimes, not just in this life.
- One will achieve Enlightenment at the same time as the sangha whom he sponsored, due to the great source of merit.
- One will always be able to get connected with the pure Dharma, learn and practise the Dharma, until one’s wisdom and spiritual potential fully ripens and becomes a Buddha.

THE GIFT OF DHARMA EXCELS ALL OTHER GIFTS
The flavour of Dharma excels all other flavours,
Other flavours do not quench craving, they only increase it,
Only the flavour of Dharma puts an end to all craving.

Do not miss the opportunity to meet the Medicine Buddha himself tomorrow and to receive his blessings, as well as to create mountains of merits by rendering support to the Buddha Dharma and Sangha community.

Of a dragon, the sun and a full rainbow

A most amazing phenomenon appeared yesterday on the first day of the 3-day Grand Healing Puja. Right after the opening ceremony and the completion of the Naga Puja, conducted by our most venerable Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche, an extremely auspicious sign appeared - a full rainbow encircled the hot bright sun and a dragon was seen emerging from the sun.
We showed and consulted our Great Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche about this and he was was very happy at this auspicious. He was extremely pleased as it meant that the Naga Puja was very effective; the Earth gods and nagas are extremely happy.  Rinpoche recalled that previously when he used to conduct the Naga Puja in Lhadak India, the sky also appeared the same phenomenon.
The Naga Palace which was constructed by the monks and offered to the Nagas during the puja.

Kangyur Rinpoche gave blessings after the initiation of the 3 wrathful deities in the evening.

Rinpoche leaving MBS Hall for the night after the initiation. What an auspicious start to everyone who participated in the pujas!  May all who are sick be able to be rid of obstacles, and may all be healed immediately.

A historic and miraculous moment in Singapore - Two Great Fire Pujas of Peace & Increase by Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche

I apologise for not updating this blog as much as I have tons of things to share. It has been/will be a busy period since the arrival of my guru, the Great Healing Lama, Kangyur Rinpoche Lobsang Choephel.  Here is an update with photos, as I have not much time to write.

Rinpoche's meritorious program kicked off last Saturday with the much anticipated Great Fire Pujas of not one, but two, Fire Pujas of Peace and Increase.  It was a resounding success judging from the turn out.  We had expected about 1000 attendees on the open field next to Eunos MRT. However, more than 2000 devotees turned up to participate in the fire pujas, conducted by both 92 year old Kangyur Rinpoche and 85 year old Geshe Lobsang Jinpa, as well as 22 monks from Gaden Shartse Monastery.

Volunteers helped packed the ingredients into thousands of boxes.

The fire puja ingredients of both PEACE and INCREASE are ready!

Finally on the actual day of the Fire Puja, the Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche arriving at the site of the Great Fire Puja, warmly welcomed by volunteers and devotees.

An amazing sight from evening till late night of the supportive 2000+ crowd who surrounded Rinpoche and the monks. There were not enough chairs, many made do sitting on carpets on the grass. The Sangha gave up their carpet as more people came. Even the VIPs gave up their cushions for those without seats. A historic moment for many, as many were new to the fire puja and touching for the rest of us as all witnessed the entire process of offering and blessings.

The tentage with lights, flowers and food offerings to Shakyamuni Buddha.

As the skies turned dark, many captured and witnessed the miraculous sight of the sky above the by-now holy grounds.

Attentive crowd, awed by Kangyur Rinpoche and monks as well as blessed by the presence of the Holy Ones. All devotees were so well behaved and orderly as they followed the instructions given and participated in the fire puja. Kudos to the volunteers who managed to control the huge crowd in an orderly manner.

Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche

Despite the heat presiding next to the fire puja, Rinpoche also gave personal blessings to the 2000 crowd one by one after the puja, much to the delight of the crowd. Rinpoche was so pleased that he gave words of wisdom and advice too. It was such a memorable night.  Rejoice in all the merits of all who participated in the Fire Puja last weekend.

Next up!  In barely 2 days time, this Saturday to Monday, 18-20 August, will be the keenly anticipated 3 glorious days of Grand Healing Puja in Marina Bay Sands (MBS).  Kicking off the opening ceremony would be the most important Naga Puja.

Naga House is ready

Kangyur Rinpoche first explained in 2007, that most sources of cancer come about due to Naga harassments and obstacles. Hence, Rinpoche has advised that it is best to participate in Naga pujas regularly to prevent such predicaments from befalling us. Rinpoche also specially pointed out that, should cancer patients experience re-growth of new tumors each time they have removed one, then this is a likely sign that this cancer disease has been caused by Naga attack. The only expedient way to pacify the Naga is through performance of Naga Pujas. There have been a few accounts where Dro-Phen Ling had conducted Naga Pujas and tumors of the cancer patients had miraculously disappeared; these are certainly living proofs which manifests the truth in Rinpoche’s words and advice.

Also join in the other pujas which are rare and effective in healing of various diseases, black magic, mental disturbance, as well as spirit harassment.  May all these Dharma activities prosper and benefit everyone.  May all be healed and rid of obstacles, diseases, and mental disturbance. May the Grand Healing Puja be a huge success and of benefit to all who have the affinity with the Great Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche and to receive his blessings.

Here is the schedule of the Grand Healing Puja. See you in MBS!

The Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche arrives in Singapore!

Early this morning at 7.30am, 92 year old Healing Lama Kangyur Rinpoche arrived on our shores. Rinpoche was in high spirits. He walked out of the arrival hall unguided, looking as strong as ever. 17 monks and many of us his students and devotees welcomed Rinpoche with khatas at the airport. Afterwards we immediately rushed back to the centre Gaden Shartse Dro-Phen Ling to welcome Rinpoche.

Through his attendant who translated for Rinpoche, Rinpoche said he is very happy to be back in Singapore for the Grand Healing Puja. He said that we have to give thanks and pay homage to Shakyamuni Buddha that this event is happening. He added that it was our accumulated merits which has resulted in our being able to be present, to be able to help other sentient beings. Rinpoche said if he was able to, he would continue to help and heal people.

As Rinpoche was in a very happy mood, he shared with us about his younger days. Rinpoche revealed he had wanted to spend his life in retreat forever. However His Holiness the Dalai Lama had requested him to continue to help people due to his special skills and ability to heal the sick, the poor and those with mental disturbance. So Rinpoche heeded His Holiness' advice and served and helped as many people who seek his healing. Rinpoche had earlier expressed that this would be his final trip to Singapore due to his old age.

Hope everyone who needs help cherish this opportunity to seek Rinpoche's blessings and healing at the upcoming Grand Healing Puja at Marina Bay Sands on 18-20 August. Admission is free. It's an auspicious period for Singaporeans indeed.

Busy busy busy bee!

I'm so crazily busy these couple of weeks that I hardly have time to sleep, much less to blog. Waking up automatically at 5am every morning doesn't help either. Many outstanding things to settle and the list of to-dos keeps getting longer. Whirlwind period. But I'm so happy and excited that the Healing Lama is arriving early morning in a day's time. (Sorry to some readers I've no time to reply your emails yet).

It's been a long time since I feel that kind of adrenaline rush, that kind of urgency in completing tasks, and the kick of seeing things come to fruition. During a meeting with an important person, someone was surprised I could talk to that person well and complimented me afterwards. My reply was, "I've no problem in meetings, talk only what....". Talk is cheap. It's so corporate world, something which I am not a stranger to but not something which I miss as well. Welcome back to the (degenerating) business world. What I learnt from the past I now have to put to practice again, with newfound wisdom and realisation.

Although it's still a long way to accomplish what I need to do, what is important is doing something with a sincere heart. Like what we learn in our Dharma practice, the motivation of what we do or intend to do is of the utmost importance. This is because if we do something with ill intentions, nothing will come out of it, even if we have succeeded at first. I've seen so many real life examples and I have met many kinds of characters that I can easily, instantly read their intentions. However, I usually let them carry on their acts. Kind of tired revealing people. As long as they don't harm others, they can carry on lying to me. I'm not bothered.

I only know that whatever I do now, whether working or volunteering, or merely writing, is to benefit others. Don't mean to sound noble, but as long I keep reminding myself this and drumming it into my head, I believe I won't go off tangent. Grateful for the help from others along the way too. Blessings all around.
